Thanks a lot guys, for the advice. Every bit helped. I guess flying is the option I'll take. Only reason why I even thought of the train is just for the view. Here in Canada, taking the train to Western Canada is always a great experience for those who enjoy a great view, especially in the mountains. If there was something like that bet SYD-MEL, I may have opted for it.

And yeah, I think I'll pass on the SYD-AKL-MEL. I can survive without collecting a few miles for change.
