Happy New Year Sit Tong!
I just had a very unpleasant experience with SQ and wonder if you've had similar experience.
My wife and I are flying to New York in June.
Initially, bought J for self, Y for wife. Used my miles to upgrade wife.
So far so good.
Decided to fly SIN-EWR instead.
Checked for standard award for wife. No problems, have. 270k miles.
Proceeded to cancel our bookings SQ call centre.
Got my new ticket no problem.
When it came my wife's turn to get redemption ticket, no more standard award only full award! And I don't have enough miles for that.
After complaining, they relented and gave her standard award.
2 things:
1. when I booked my seat, I could choose any seat. I'm the only one so far on this flight.
2. I check before booking my ticket whether standard awards available.... They were both ways.
Any idea what is happening? Is it because they are trying to prevent this practice of 1 paid+1 redemption booking?
