It's Istanbul, not Constantinople: A report on TK's New 77W in First Suites SIN-IST

Greetings from Singapore - just thought I'd share this rare-ish (for now) TR on the 9W operated TK new 77W from SIN-IST

Flight departs in 23:10 - so some first impressions from me re: SATS ground services at SIN

Arrived in the airport at 815pm - and checked in at the SATS premier area.

No sooner had I sat down at the desk when two concierge girls from SATS stood at a respectful distance behind me. All done, I got up, and they escorted me through CIQ and on to T3 to get my left hand luggage. They then buggied me back to the T2 SKL (which was where I wanted to go) - so far so good. FYI - TK uses the SATS premier lounge at T1. My choice was purely elective. The concierge girls even offered to wait for us in T3 if we wanted to shop for a bit - So far, so good!

In this case, erm 2 o'clock and 8 o'clock. Not as effective as the 10 to 2 position, but still reasonably so

The report

Just got off earlier this morning so everything's still fresh in my mind.

Aircraft tonight is VT-JEE - Karadeniz. Still carrying an indian registration and flag. Crew is still mixed 9W and TK, until July 1. Last night there were 2 9W crew aboard.

First up - some general pictures and commentary about the cabin:

Config is 2 rows of 1-2-1. 8 Seats in total. Load in F tonight is just 2, aunty P and me










A bar, galley and lav complex separate F from J. Interestingly, this area has parquet flooring. Very unique, I've certainly never seen this elsewhere

The suite

Numbers of the suites are on the side of the suite:


As advertised, the doors do indeed close - but unlike SQ's - these can be locked open with a button to prevent the things from moving around


Also, there is no room between the seat and the door. SQ's suite is indeed significantly wider, although I think they are roughly the same length

SQFG tm leg shot - the buddy seat is quite a fair bit lower than the big seat, and when the table is out, a bit far away to have a comfortable meal together. Because it's also lower, the underseat storage area won't take thicker rollaboards


Stowaways! These fellas heard about me going away so they crept into my hand luggage!


Closet also included, but unlike SQ's - this is inside the doors. Not much use since you can't quite get access to it. This is with the door open

Features

Screen is a nice 23 inches across. Not SQ suite size, but then nice enough for viewing. Movie selection though - somewhat dismal and not a patch on Krisworld.


Side storage bin with IFE controller inside. The headphone jack goes inside too


Seat controller - this is first menu -presets. Note the M at the bottom, you can store your favourite positions in there

A nice bulgari amenity kit is handed out. I do not know if they are gender specific, but ours contained a parfum, so I'm guessing yes





Nice bose headphones too


A nice thick TK inflight mag and safety card. Note the inflight mag was about 50% content related to Istanbul




Menus are handed out also. Nice touch to have your name there. Leroy's wondering why it isn't his name on the menu. Lots of stuff on the menu tonight

So we're halfway through the main course when the FA comes up and says: erm ms. SQFG..... sorry it took us so long to prepare, but would you like some caviar?

Quite an occasion this: - no shot of vodka offered, unlike SQ

Wow, niiiice!
I am not a big fan of the color scheme (a bit too dark IMHO) but still the suites look nice and comfortable.
I think the Bulgari kit is the White Tea? If so, it is a unisex fragrance.

Sleepy sleepy time!

Whilst we were having dinner, the crew went and made up the beds for sleep

The fellas climb in first as usual. The duvet is a little thin, but the blanket is oh so divine!


Coupled with beautiful cotton PJ's (no pic here, but I'll try to take one and put it up) - it's easily the best set of PJ's I've ever seen.



Aunty P models the bed for us


The doors aren't as high as SQ's, so you can look over into it, but it's still nonetheless, very private. Soon enough - lights out! - suite dreams everyone! Also of note, the center screen is electrically controlled and quite a bit sturdier than SQ's manually controlled one.

I love stars on the ceiling. I have glow in the dark stars in my bedroom, so this was very welcome for me. Helps me sleep
