Shower rooms were available. You could request a shower room at the reception, and if one was available, they would give you access via physical key. If not, you would get a beeper. Showers were available without too much of a wait when we were there.
The shower rooms were spacious and well equipped.
I had a warm shower before my flight and felt totally refreshed.
Overall I thought this was a very good lounge, and would give it thumbs up.
What I liked:
- The attractive and stylish design of the lounge.
- The lounge was spotlessly clean. Everything still looked brand new.
- The lounge was not busy in the evening before our departure. As we all know, an uncrowded lounge is half the battle won. (Compare and contrast this with the Changi T3 SKL at peak hours.)
- Airside views (during daytime at least), and an outdoor area for fresh air.
- The staff were friendly and helpful.
What I wished there was:
- I would have liked even more premium and varied wine selection and perhaps some live cooking stations, as well as a manned bar. I thought the F&B was good, but not at the level of the best Star Alliance carrier lounges out there.
- Also, perhaps because it was a shared Star Alliance Lounge, there was no opportunity to showcase a specific airline's strengths, or their home country's specialities, for example ANA's signature chicken curry and rice or SQ's unforgettable laksa.
All that said, I did not encounter any major negatives for this lounge, and I really enjoyed my time in the lounge before my flight. I think pooling Star Alliance resources into a large, well designed lounge like this one is infinitely better than each airline trying to go it's own way at CDG.
After our lounge visit, we headed to my gate for my flight SQ337 to Singapore. I plan to have the TR for the rest of my trip, including SIN-CDG on SQ, and a week in Bordeaux, up some time over the next couple of weeks.
