Newbie - Redemption for Award Y Flights - Help Please!

Hi All,

After a manic year of travel I have found myself with a fair number of KF points and also PPS membership. New to this whole thing, I understand that there are still some charges when points are redeemed for award flights?

Are the charges the standard departure taxes from the relevant airports?

How far in advance do you recommend to book an award flight from LHR to MEL?

For all redemptions, you will need to pay the taxes and surcharges too.

From LHR-SIN and SIN-MEL, I guess need to book at least 3-4 months ahead, it also depends on the season/month you are travelling.

You can log on to your Krisflyer account and search the dates so you will know how far in advance to go.
