  • Early PPS Qualification - Not Fun - $30K Solitaire Reserve removed!

So, how about this for fun.

I was $3K short of Solitaire, and have spent $57K in PPS YTD, with my renewal date on 8/31... (card expires 9/30).

On 7/1 I receive an email "welcome to another year of PPS", and all my stats reset!... This was done "for my benefit" to make it easier to qualify for PPS next year... Yeah, sure... 2 months early?!

Conveniently and amazingly, I was airborne flying in upgraded J to F from SFO-SIN departing 6/30... So I thought I was set, since this segment = $4.3K...

Arrgh... Denied... I am now Solitaire PPS... great, but I've been ripped off my $30K in reserve that should have carried over. All because Sing was "helping me" with an early qualification.

I escalated at the F lounge in Sing, and spoke to a senior person in Singapore... no dice, since the PPS$ hadn't been calculated, but she said "don't worry, it'll be fine"... well... not fine. I'm out the bucks.

Thoughts!? I've called back to PPS callcenter today (since the PPS$ posted and I made Solitaire) and they are "researching".

I would wait to see the outcome of their reply first, although I would have followed up with something in writing to confirm the tel-con. When they changed the year 'for your benefit' did they elaborate on what 'benefit' they were talking about ?.

Yeah, I'm holding out that sense will prevail.

The story goes that if you are doing well in PPS and qualify early... (I qualified in month 4 I think), then with 1 month to go, they can re-up you for PPS and your $ start counting for your next year... think of it like a "mini-reserve" feature of Solitaire...

i.e., you get 13 months to qualify instead of 12... Same thing has happened in the past to me, but I ignored it... this year they were "especially helpful" and gave me 14 months to qualify for 2011 instead of even the previously "helpful" 13...

But it's bogus, because they in reality ate my Reserve of a whole year and 2 months!.

        Hi phazlehurst,

Did not fully understand your message fully. I may be missing something. What is the reserve value you are referring to?

I was tracking my PPSValue when it got converted to Solitaire from QPPS. The PPSValue was reset to zero with a new requalification date about half a year earlier.

There are new tracking layout for Reserve PPSValue for Solitaire. Understand that there is no Reserve PPSValue for QPPS . Nor was there transfer of the excessive value for a new requalifying year when status changed from QPPS to TPPS. I did not appreciate the latter very much.

Yeah, now I figured it out. Reserve value *only* accumulates once you are a Solitaire PPS. I thought it would be anything > PPS total for the QPPS period too.

          I guess my mistake...

Sigh. Anyways, I travel a ton, so shouldn't be a problem.
