  • Mistake on redemption booking: refund? Allow date change?

Hi there, I hope someone can help me here
So here’s my problem. I have a confirmed redemption booking on 16th June 2010 for CGK-SIN return for 4 persons using miles, I have also paid the taxes and surcharges. I want to change it to 6 July but the website wont allow me to do so which is a very uncommon problem as I have changed my redemption booking many times before without any problem (not this booking). So I emailed them what I want. Unfortunately, I emailed them as 6 June instead of 6 July, (typo), booking was done on 29th may. I just realized this big mistake yesterday as I was browsing through my email. The date has passed and now I don’t know what to do. I have not contacted them yet.

Do you think they will refund my miles and money? Or can they change the booking to 6july, as I wanted or any other date? What do you think is best for me? Thanks in advance.

For redemtion bookings, you generally cannot change them online and more often than not, you will need to cancel off the old booking, get your miles refunded into your account, then make a new redemption booking (even if it is to do with a date change).

Is there a reson you did not call SQ to clarify this (I am assuming that you used your Krisflyer miles and not miles from another *A FFP?)? You may have a chance to get your miles refunded, allowing for a new redemption booking to be made, however SQ may try to deny you this as it is technically not their fault. But the thing is never give up when it comes to dealing with SQ/KF...

Once the KF agent has told me, that would be a 10,000 miles fee for a no show redemption ticket.
I think this circumstance applied to your case.
Just call them to fix everything.....

Like I stated before, the best thing to do would be to call them up.

I think you can change your redemption booking online unless there are seats available in your redemption class. Going to the KF call centre will only lose your 15% discount. That I'm pretty sure cos I've done it before.

Yeah i think the best way is to call them. They should waive it if it's the system problem.

I honestly doubt SQ will refund you anything as they did send out an email to you but you failed to notice it - is it even a current email address? It was also basically your error and not SQ's. They followed your instructions on your email.

Plus 4 seats no showing is $ to SQ if they are to refund you money. If you cancelled, they could have sold those seats.

Something similar happened to me once. I had a rather late night in HKG and woke up in my hotel room an hour before my flight was scheduled to depart. I called up KF immediately and had to pay various fees (including a fee equivalent to losing the online booking discount).

Technically ? It's absolutely not SQ's fault here. The original poster should face up to the problem down solely to him/her and be prepared to pay (cash or miles) to sort this out.
