  • Saver fares and miles

    Hi all

    My 1st post

Just a quick question as I am new and confused....
On SQ saver fares, they usually cannot accrue krisflyer miles...
    what about elite miles?

If I buy a saver fare, will that journey be counted towards my elite gold qualification? ie. elite miles

    Simple answer, nope.

      thank u!
Looks like I have to fly Thai
      SIN-PEK J Class $3800 (SQ)
      SIN-BKK-PEK-BKK-SIN J Class $1700 (Thai)
Can go shopping in BKK for a day somemore!

krisflyer is a tough program man

I think the general rule for KF members is: you earn KrisFlyer miles if and only if you earn elite miles. So, as Pinkfloyd pointed out, the answer is no, unfortunately.

Yeah, I have been trying very hard to fly SQ Flexi fares all the way, but being self employed, everything comes out of my own pocket and I am starting to feel a slight pinch

KF is tough and irritating... Probably better to look at another *A airline's FFP.

Are there are SQ business class "saver" paid (i.e. not a redemption) fares which don't accrue any miles ? I'd always assumed that you get miles for all J fares - am I wrong ?

You're right, all Biz class fares get 125% miles
What happened was that I was contemplating on saving some money and flying economy, since its just a short trip within asia. SQ's saver fare w/o miles was $690, flexi fare was $1090....Thai's economy fair was $1030.....Thai's business was $1700 and SQ's business was $3900

I figured the best deal is Thai business.......at $1700, you get good seats, good food and yet, still 125% KF miles. The short layover in BKK is fine considering I'm a shopping freak. Oh well, my husband may not agree to it since I am travelling alone, he thinks its not safe for me to be alone in Bangkok

He is afraid you may wander into a boy bar...

Must agree that SQ's J price is a bit unreasonable.

You may also want to consider fly CA in F (although that depends on your FFP, mine redeems at 200% on an F fare on CA), which is more than $1700 but... well, it's F. Or you can do one way in F and the other in J for around $2380.

Funnily enough, I did your exact search two days ago but TG's timings are a little annoying and for me, require a flight the night before and an overnight in BKK. Coming back is even more annoying as the earliest flight gets in at 11am. All factors to consider. I'd go for TG in J but the way it looks, it seems *doable* without a traffic jam in PEK where I intend to be coming from - highly inconvenient and a little risky. But the price is very tempting... and gives me the same amount of miles in J as CA in F.

Even the SQ corporate rate is too much of a difference to justify on a SIN-PEK. The only 'benefit' I can think of is for those who want to try SQ's new F product - buying one later than August is almost guaranteed to get you into the 'new' F seats. Which I didn't find all that comfortable anyway.

What's your experience with CA? I rode on CA once Sin-xmn .... can't wait to get out of that plane. LOL

I think your statement summed up my experience pretty well (PEK-SIN in C)

Apologies, was assuming the OP meant fares in Economy Class.

Another question to ask you experts:

I am going to get kris flyer silver with my next trip
To get gold, i must accumulate 25000 miles or 50000 miles within the next 12 months?

                            Confused. LOL

Another 25,000 miles within the remainder of your current membership year to attain gold, if you are already silver.
