  • Use of KF miles on Star A

In September this year, i will need to travel to a friend's wedding in London. I am current thinking of using my miles on KF to redeem a Business Class ticket to LHR.

Looking at the redemption charts, it seems that getting a SAVER J class award to LHR from SIN is not possible. The next best alternative is to call KF to score a Star A business class award at 120,000 miles.

What would be the best way to fly to LHR from SIN on a Star A award? Appreciate your comments.

PS: I am assuming that on a Star A award, it is not possible to have an SQ flt in any of the sectors.

Thai Airways is probably the most direct if you're going ex-SIN (SIN-BKK-LHR) - there's also LH with a transit through Germany

I would think it should be fine to have SIN-BKK on SQ , then BKK-LHR on TG. Although I have not tried this myself

yes, it is possible to have SQ flights in the sectors.

Since you're on a round-trip, you could stop-over somewhere as well if you like

          Thanks.

I looked, another possibility is ANA through TYO. Anyone tried this before?

Was weighing between LH, TG, NH. Any other ideas that may work? Reason i am asking is i want as many options as possible as i know it can be difficult to score a Biz class seat.

Obviously in terms of service, i would imagine NH would be strongest among them.

Between the 3, I would choose NH in a heart-beat. You may also get NH's new C seats by then

Well, if you want the most indirect flight...

There are sooooo many possibilities that you will have absolutely no problem getting to LHR and back

                SIN - AMS

How about flying Amsterdam on SIA 747 business on business saver points (SIA) and fly Amsterdam to London on Lufthansia or BMA, Ryan Air for around AUD $200 return.

Isn't SQ 324 on a 77E? But then again, same J class seats with possibility of saver redemptions / upgrades.

ANA via Narita is the best, 2nd choice is Asiana Airlines via Incheon.

Go www.aeroplan.com, go under "book a flight" to check availibility or ANA Mileage Club's "award reservation" before calling KrisFlyer, as they will arrange a call back. If they call back and there are no seats for partner airlines, you have to keep trying. So know which dates & flights have seats beforehand then call KrisFlyer up and give the flight details save a lot of trouble.

You can find out what food, drinks, movies on ANA flights at this website:

Other good airlines would be Scandinavian Airlines and SWISS, both via Bangkok where you can visit the award winning THAI Royal Silk Lounge, so many of them at Suvarnabhumi Airport:

How about Air New Zealand (Airline of the year 2010) via Hong Kong on NZ39/NZ38, B777-200ER?

You can try their Business Premier seats. A seat that converts to a 6'7.5" bed - the most comfortable fully flat bed in its class.

From Singapore to Hong Kong, you can take United Airlines which as the new lie-flat seats:

Tempted to try ANZ on my next return trip to Europe... At least then I can finally get down to visiting some friends in HKG which I have been putting off for a number of years now...

Apology to ask in someone's thread, but does the KF miles varies across star alliance airlines redemption?

                              Hi guys,
Thanks for your comments. There are indeed many possibilities, the ANZ option requires me to stay in HKG for a night cos the flight leaves HKG in the morning and the UA flight into from SIN into HKG will not make it.

Looks likes the ANA choice is looking like a top priority for me. Maybe followed by TG and IF "GOD forbid" some sectors on SQ metal.

Let's see what KF can do for me.
