  • Question about Solitaire PPS

    So I'm nearly there, and have about $36K to spend to make it... A couple of J trips coming up so I think I'm fine.

    I have a question about how the "year" is calculated... is it the same as your PPS requal year? If so, no problems, because I already requal'd for PPS this month, though I have until August 2010 to do it?

    Ironically, if it was a sliding month by month thing, in my first year (5 years ago) of Sing travel I only flew a little, so it'd be easier to qualify from August 2010, but it's hopefully moot as I'll get the $36K in the next month or two.

    Welcome to SQTalk phazlehurst. I am not sure how Solitaire PPS works. Believed the qualifications starts from the time you qualify for it. Don't think it works from Aug 2010.
    I am in the dark when the year starts.

      Hi and welcome; although it has been a few years since I made Solitaire, I believe your 'anniversary' date will be from when you first qualify for TPP i.e. when you spend the remaining $36k to make the quailfication. From then on the renewal will stay the same month with any extra spend going towards your 'reserve value' in case you do not spend $25k in any 12 month period.

      I have already qualified for another year although my anniversary date is Septemeber 2010. They will send out your new card a couple of months early and may even reset your value early so you can start to qualify again. But I am getting ahead of myself.

      I hope you qualify soon so you can enjoy the Solitaire benefits. Obviously the first class check in and lounge access and the quick clearing of WL flights are the main benefits I notice. But also the spare seat alongside you if the flight is not full and the personal attention on many (but not all) SQ flights. I only wish the seniority was better recognised across the rest of the Star Alliance.

        Until such time as *A adds another tier that is most unlikely to happen. Many *A FFPs have additional *G statuses but they all get treated alike when not flying home airline.

            Yep, that's the way they do it.

            I would agree that the best benefit of Solitaire is the supplementary card.

                I see and appreciated the usefulness of the supplementary card.

                There is no further positive target to aim for once Solitaire is achieved other than annual renewal if one wants to continue. LPP status is no longer around...no real incentivising goal. Good to try other airlines' premium services or more EY in SQ beyond the requalification goal.

                Reserve value - we have the option to put it in cash and use it later for some of us if we need it for requalification. No big plan to accumulate reserve value that has a use by date of 3 years. Cash has no expiry date.

                  Does SQ still offer lifetime Solitaire?

                    No it doesn't.

                    FYI on this forum,

                    LPP = Lifetime Solitaire
                    TPP = Solitaire
                    QPP = PPS

                      As what 9V-SIA mentioned, no more LPP. Unfortunately, the carpet has been pull from many who worked hard towards it over the years. Sadly leaving a bitter aftertaste. LPP has already rebounded to become LPPL. Not being able to do anything about, it can now be shortened to totally LL.

                          What is the change from LPP to LPPL? Are they no longer on top of the upgrade list?

                          Btw, if the TPP-Spouse is flying more than the TPP-Sponsor - how does that impact the upgrade list?

                              What about female LPPS members? They can't!
