I plan to fly for business LHR-NRT (or possibly via CDG-NRT) in a couple months with a stopover in SIN on the way back. I don't currently collect SQ KF points, I collect on AC which doesn't participate in the *A upgrade program. I should be *G by the time I make this flight but maybe not until the return. As far as I can tell my options for upgrading from economy (E fare) to business are:
1) Pay the fare difference
2) Find someone with a UG5 SUP which is about to expire
(who wants an AC award?) Am I right it would require a UG5?
3) Find someone with a pile of KF points who wants to spend them on me
(out of the kindness of their heart? unless there are AC awards which
aren't available on KF?) How many points would such an upgrade take?
3) Find someone with a M&M account or other program who can get a *A
upgrade (same deal?)
Is that right? Which of these are actually doable availability-wise? How far in advance do you need to look for availability? My goal was to fly in business on an A380, I know upgrading to first on an A380 is nigh impossible but is it hard to upgrade to business?
Is availability for upgrades easier on LHR-SIN or CDG-SIN If I could choose the connection?
