  • Upgrade Voucher - Can you use it as planned?

    SQ is really pissing me off at the moment - whatever I wanna do, I am getting waitlisted despite being a PPS. I am now waitlisted on flights to London that are pretty wide open...

    A friend of mine who is also PPS and has earned an upgrade voucher as well, is having the same problems. Any given dates, planes are not even 50% sold in Biz and no availability in "D" - which is a paid full fare booking class.

    What have you done with your upgrade voucher? Did you get the flights you wanted?

    I was able to use my voucher for an upgrade from Economy to Business SIN-LHR.

    It wasn't easy though.

    I phone KF beforehand to find out availability on the dates I wanted to travel. I was told that two of the outbound flights were available and one of the return flights was available for upgrade. I then changed my Economy class booking to match the availability, but of course when I then tried to use the voucher it told me that seats were not available.

    To cut a long short, I phone KF back, ranted a bit and finally they handled it over the phone for me and I got the flights I wanted.

    Maybe you can try calling KF.

      Use Krisflyer Call Centre!!!

      1. Decide where you want to go
      2. Call up Krisflyer to give you the dates available to use your upgrade voucher
      3. See which date you want to fly

      By no means should you:

      1. Check availability of seats online on preferred dates
      2. Book flight based on what you see online
      3. Then try and use your UG voucher to UG online.

      The flight will be unavailable for UG voucher.

      Then you have to call Krisflyer anyway to sort out the booking you made.

      Happened to me..

        Well, I am not earning a voucher redeemable for Standard Awards to go begging for availability. The standard award is twice the price of a saver award and "D" class should be available on any given flight that is not at least 50% sold.

        I have booked my flights - and both flights have not sold 50% of the seats - and called KF to sort it out. One waitlist has cleared, one is pending. Mr Chew also got a nice letter regarding the bull-shitting of only making "Z" class available.

          Has anyone actually been able to upgrade from SQ25/26 JFK to SQ21/22 EWR? SUP rules seems to allow it but I am wondering if anyone has actually done it?

            A friend of mine upgraded SIN-NRT-LAX to SIN-LAX. Works like a charme - availability in "D" given...

              I believe SQ is down to underdog tactics trying to cheat ppl with their so called UG voucher.I got 2 UG voucher and their instructions was simple like ABC. That award email comes with any conditions stated . They Simply say 1) check if business class seat available on your intented flight 2)book an confirmed economoy class ticket 3) go to upgrade page and done....... done like SHIT.... NO SEATS. Make a call to the call ctr and they still tell u no seat. Check on the reservation site - many seats. Call them again and again and finally they tell u their version. UG only for very limited limited seat. Try cancelling your econmony ticket as they did not honor what they mean - S$75 fine. Well, what to say - voted the Best Airline....... LF

                I wonder what ticket class is the upgrade (from Economy to Business) voucher using. I was told that it's D. Not sure if this is true.

                  Yes, it is "D". SQ told me however, that the system differentiates between paid D (e.g. RTW) and upgrade/redemption D (KF). No good for charging twice the miles...

                    Just ran into an unexpected issue with SUP. Your booking cannot be changed once travel begins. Even if you have a flexible ticket, the SUP is not valid for new date. You will lose your SUP if you make any date changes.

                      Tried to book special upgrade voucher for BKK-SIN-LHR-SIN-BKK through BKK office. They knew nothing about this and the girl said we do not have many customers with these.

                      She did get back to me and yes the answer was no availabilty on dates I wanted to fly. She managed to get me an lunchtime flight outbound mid Oct,as no evening flights available period, but said no availability on return for the whole of October!

                      Sent e-mail to complain and received call from SQ SIN and a guy who tried to belp.

                      Got the daytime as offered by BKK office but still no evening availability even though plenty of seats available if you buy! Then called me back to say good and bad news. Return on evening LHR-SIN 773 flight SQ, which was the good news and was the flight that the BKK agent said was the best date to go for at the end of October. Bad news, definitely no availabilty on SIN-BKK in BIZ so this sector would only be economy.

                      What a joke, what he meant was that they would def not release any biz seats for the evening connecting flight.

                      As many have said far from what was promised.

                      If you make offers to atract customers, as this offer attracted me to move my business from TG to SQ, just make them work. It is not rocket science, all they have done is for me to re evaluate if I should look elswhere. If I cannot trust what they say why would i go with them.

                        This is it....I've had it with SQ.
                        I never expected them to not honor the voucher.
                        I've been flying with them for 8 years now and listen to this- every month!
                        2 times return flights from any European country to Sin than CGK. i cant take this any more. if this coming trip they wont upgrade me with the voucher, im moving to LH or even TK now that they fly to CGK.

                        Since day one i've been trying to upgrade with the voucher but always no seats.

                        I just know that dont give a @@#$# about me.

                            I think that's a bit harsh. Other posters have reported how difficult it can be to redeem the upgrade vouchers. How do you know that indoman_il hasn't been trying since the day he got them?

                              Does it really help to book early? Have you really tried?

                              Well I tried , maybe 5-6 weeks is not early enough? And I keep trying until the last week which the seats were then made available ONLY via phone call.
