  • Question: seatcounter.com & codes

    Good evening all.

Looking to tap into the vast pool of knowledge on sqtalk....

I'm waitlisted in F for SIN-LAX, and trying to assess the likelihood of the waitlist clearing.
I've checked seatcounter.com and it comes up with :

    A:4
    P:0
    F:4

    If I'm not wrong ,
    -redemptions book into class O.
    -F is full fare First
    -A is discounted First.

What does booking class P refer to?
Does the above mean that there are still 8 revenue seats available?
Does seatcounter show actual number of award seats available?
(I ask because it does not show class O:zero)

Apologies if these questions have already been answered elsewhere in SQT,
    TIA.

No you can't add up the availabilities. F4A4 just means willing to sell at least 4 seats. However SQ (and many airlines) doesn't display more than 4 first seats in availability systems, thus it could be any number (up to the 12 seats in the cabin).

Most booking tools do not show award booking classes. Sign up for a ANA account (free to join) and use their award lookup (no need to have miles to search for awards)

      Thanks Kiwi.

Actually, I now recall reading on your blog (a while back) that seatcounter does not show award availability. However, 4 seats avail in F is good, it means there are still (at least) 4 empty seats.

I have an ANA account, though it's not overly user friendly. It seems to show pretty much same info as the KF site, except for availability on other *A carriers.

      cheers

In first, it's a good indicator - since most airlines don't overbook.

If you saw that in an economy bucket, there may be less than 4 if they've intentionally oversold.

In reality, it's not so much "empty seats" as it is "seat confirmations we're willing to sell" - and they're not always necessarily the same.

Indeed I'd go so far as to say in general they are not the same (for many reasons).

Take note that SQ has no interest in filling the F cabin if they are not paid F, so you may never clear the waitlist even if there are plenty of empty seats for that flight.

It's certainly the case for NH where additional seats in reward F are rarely opened up even if the aircraft has very few booked passengers in F.

Sounds like this needs a thread of its own!

                That's just too depressing.
I'm redeeming via KF not *A, so I'm hoping that makes a difference.
And I have some status, albeit lowly ES.

I have cleared an F waitlist previously, about 6 weeks in advance.
So it is not in the realm of the unlikely for me to clear the WL,
unless there's an impending change of metal to the new product.

The alternative is to go not-so-new J on the A345, where there seems to be lots of availability.
However the thought of ~17 hours without terra firma is somewhat discouraging.
