and send them an email with a direct link to this thread as well, through the feedback section on the website. even if they dont read it, its still worth a try. send it to all departments you can! tell them to send it to their managers!

I'd tell them to stuff it and say you're going to buy a revenue ticket on QF on their F suites (even if you aren't).
SQ (management) is all high and mighty - especially in Singapore. Which is why its so sad to see the real people who suffer - the staff.
The very issue with this redemption is that it is a Krisflyer redemption and that well, is controlled and dictated by SQ. They cannot see the reasoning why you insist on going on that flight. They cannot see the timing issue.
Now other people who got switched from a 747 to 388 is when the aircraft changed but its still the same flight. They have to honor that. But the reasoning behind a cancelled flight flight is different - at least in SQ's eyes.
Typical SQ - they would rather leave an empty seat than to fill it up with possible revenue (even if its their own FFP).
Stay your ground. Keep fighting. And maybe write into Straits Times!

Hey guys - thanks again for your welcome and for the all the replies...
Well to keep you updated again the KrisFlyer managed never bothered to return my call even though he promised...
I just phone up the general number and it is like talking to robots - all they keep say is 'sorry we will escalate' - and then nothing happens. Tonights operator also said if I would like any 'special meal' ????
I will mention tomorrow that people on F redemption have in fact travelled in Suites as mentioned by the other posters (ie 747 changed to 380)...but the biggest one at the moment is the daily SIN-CDG service changing from 77W to A380 - what are they going to tell all those ticketed F class pax which i'm sure there are quite a number on redemptions 'sorry we offer only a class beyond First so we need to rebooked you on any other of our 744 or 772ER...
...the saga continues...

If they applied the same logic as they are doing in your case then everyone would have been re-accommodated into business class...

Reading this thread, I can't believe some of the stuff they are still coming out with. In the same week they announce a cull off 11% of their timetable, the grounding of 17 aircraft, the suspension of a route they have operated for 20 years and possible staff wage cuts and/or redundancies they are still as arrogant as ever. What will it take for them to come down from cloud cuckoo land and back to the cold hard reality ?.
The Suites BS is now taking on comical proportions. 'We don't have a First Class!!!! Yes you bloody well do, it's just got a bigger seat/bed than before. Everything else is the same, FFS.
The only thing Suites are beyond is redemption, and I am beginning to think some of the decision makers at SQ are the same.

I am a big supporter of SQ, but I wonder how long it's going to last for me if this continues on for much longer.
No op-ups to Suites even if they are all empty, they put waitlisted people in J in Y and leave people behind...
No access to The Private Room even if you are on Standard or Full Awards
Premium Seats in Y are now payable for PPS
Call Centre is a joke
2 different phone numbers for bookings/redemptions
No First Class Lounge for PPS
Low milage earnings for J/F
High standard/full awards
SQ hates Elites - they just don't want our business... :-)

I hope you get what you deserve, i.e. a seat on the A380 in R!
QF tried to do the same thing up until recently with their A380 using the same booking code 'R' for their A380 services and charging around $25K return SYD-LHR-SYD same as SQ. Needless to say it backfired BIG TIME - now they have heaps of F and A class inventory for their A380. It's a shame SQ is being so protective of this product when in reality it shouldn't.

Thanks guys really appreciate all your replies.
Still no call back from KrisFlyer but it is only just on 3.20PM in SIN at the moment so will wait overnight.
In other instances I would have taken the SQ232 and asked for a re-credit of miles but for work reasons I can't leave in the morning and I need to be in Singapore early AM on 25APR so if it all falls through I will demand a total refund of miles and book on BA or QF.
SQ seems to be completely out of touch with this 'Suites' class and I'm sure while it's good it is prob on par with EK's Suites which I had the pleasure of flying on their inaugural DXB-SYD and also had the shower too - very impressive product.

I will think that downgrade to J on the A380 will not be acceptable.
