  • Question about validity of saver awards

Hi, this may sound stupid, but I have a question that I've always wondered about on the validity of saver awards. We know that the validity for a saver award is 6 months. Suppose I redeem a ticket in January for travel in August, does that violate the 6-month-validity rule? (since from ticketing, the award will expire in June without you haven't even flown?).

Also what does: "Extend validity of unused award ticket on Singapore Airlines and SilkAir for 3 months" mean in the context of that? (see: http://www.singaporeair.com/saa/en_U...rvice_fees.jsp). What is the difference between this and merely a change of date (which incurs no fee)

    Thanks

Oh one more thing, how does this all work out now seeing that one-way awards are worth or cost exactly half of a round trip? I guess my big question is, if you wish to redeem an award ticket, how far in advance can you possibly do so, and with what implications for availability?

    Thanks

I must admit I'm not 100% sure of the answer but I always thought the 6 month rule meant that you had to use the return leg within 6 months of taking the outbound flight. I know I have booked reward flights more than 6 months in advance without a problem.

I believe that saver award 6 months validity is based on the first outbound flight date. You can book it couple months ahead. But once you start the journey, you have to use the return portion 6 month later at the latest.

Right. Thanks. So I suppose this rule will not apply for one-way trips.

              Hi All,
I have a question. I am trying to book a saver award ticket to Tokyo during CNY. I always thought that saver awards were not available on a380 and 777. It seems however, that I am able to book a saver award on the a380 in economy. going up is waitlisted and return is confirmed. However, if I want to book a biz class redemption on the same flight, it is not open for booking...
Is that a new policy that saver awards are available on a380 for economy only?
              Kindly advise..
              Many thanks

Saver awards have always been available for economy on the A380 and 77W. It's only J, F/R that is not available as saver.

Just issued my one way saver redemption ticket....
It also apply six months validity rules...
It means, I can change my departure date in that six months period after my original departure date without RE-ISSUEING the ticket, so no cost at all...
The question is: how about if I change it before the original date?? is it still acceptable?
