  • Award Flights bookings for a Couple

    Hi all,

Quick question, how do I book a reward booking on SQ from two separate KrisFlyer accounts? My wife and I have enough points in our separate KrisFlyer accounts, but not enough for the award flights to be deducted from one account.

Would I have to just book them separately from each account and hope availability does not change? Would it be easier to book this via the call centre? More importantly would I still get the 15% on-line discount if I booked via the call centre?

    Thanks in advance

I have been in this exact same position and it caused me a lot of worry as I'm sure it will be for you. My initial (paranoid!) thoughts were to have two computers running at the same time and proceed through the bookings separately, thus booking the two award seats at the same time but from each individual's KF account. This way, one should be pretty much guaranteed that both of you get the seats (unless you're verry unlucky and someone is booking an award on that flight at the exact same time as you).

What we ended up doing was to call KF, as the specific combination of flights we wanted to take (BKK-SIN-LHR) weren't on offer via the online booking system (we wanted to maximise our overnight time in SIN rather than going for the booking system's suggested pairings). We explained this to KF over the phone and they agreed to honour the 15% discount, as the booking was valid, but not possible online. I then simply quoted both of our KF numbers and the requisite amount of miles was deducted from each account - all sorted.

What I would suggest (albeit with my limited experience) is that if your flight is multi segment (such as LHR-SIN-SYD for example) then perhaps try the method that I describe above. We certainly weren't being sneaky about this, we wanted those specific flights that weren't available via the online system,...perhaps you could do similar?

Hope this helps, if even in a small way - best of luck

Just to share an experience with all of you that I had done the same thing before, but you don't need 2 computers, 1 still can do, just open 2 different types of browsers, Internet Explorer (IE) & Firefox, then log in at the same time.

You can do this from Firefox using multiple tabs

now with IE 8, you can open 2 tabs on the same browser.
I know when you airline bling, that could only mean one thing

I would caution using multiple tabs to browse the same website, namely SQ in this case. Most websites are not designed for multiple tabs yet, hence the transaction result can be unpredictable. It is fine if you are browsing only without making any entries.
