  • Marriott Bonvoy and KF Status Match/Challenge

KF has an offer for Marriott Bonvoy elites. For my situation, I (as a US based lifetime Platinum Bonvoy member) have the opportunity to earn KF Gold after flying 4 "qualifying" flights in six months after registration.

Question is, what constitutes a "qualifying flight"? Is it a certain ticket class (there are many economy class tickets for example), distance based or both?

FWIW, I'm currently based in the US.

Hello abraxis! I received a similar promotion not long ago, and here are the T&Cs for that promotion.

    https://www.singaporeair.com/saar5/p...riott_TnCs.pdf

Not clear if it is same promotion or an earlier one, but the criteria for qualifying flights in the above is :

"...Marriott Bonvoy Gold Members who are also

KrisFlyer Members participating in the Preferred Partnership Program shall be eligible

to receive KrisFlyer Elite Silver status after completing two (2) Singapore Airlines

commercial flights in any booking class except booking class codes G ‘Group fares’

(each such flight, a “Qualifying Flight”) within six (6) months following the date of

registration for the Preferred Partnership Program (“KrisFlyer Elite Silver Accelerator

Challenge”) For purposes of these Preferred Partnership Rules, award tickets and

codeshare flights are not considered to be Qualifying Flights."

Later in the T&Cs hey also talk about completion of 4 qualifying flights to achieve Krisflyer Gold, but don't redefine qualifying flights, so I would assume the same criteria would apply.

Mission accomplished! So I purchased a round-trip ticket and an open jaw ticket on my most recent visit to Singapore. SFO – SIN – SFO and SIN – HKG, SGN – SIN (open jaw) which makes a total of 4 flights.

A day later after I returned to SFO, Kris Flyer Gold. This will make the long hauls to Singapore easier as well as possibly using lounges here in the US, which means United.

Congrats, abraxis! Enjoy Krisflyer Gold! While I wish there was some way I could achieve PPS (which is not going to happen given my travel pattern), I have actually been very happy with Krisflyer Gold, which provides perks like priority check-in, priority boarding, complimentary seat selection and lounge access (especially outstation and Star Alliance Lounges). These are really great perks when travelling.

KF Gold also makes flying on Scoot much more tolerable, as you get benefits like one free change of itinerary (A really great benefit), prioity boarding,as well as ree seat selection. Unfortunately KF Gold does not give you lounge access when flying Scoot, unlike Qantas where QF Gold gets you lounge access even when flying Jetstar.

Thanks! I didn't know that KFG had status with Scoot. Useful.

I read on FT that if I fly UA domestic with my UA credentials, I can show my KFG card and still access the UA lounges (UA *G does not allow lounge access on domestic flights cos they want you to buy a UA Club membership or get their expensive credit card). Going to try this weekend!

Hi abraxis! Yes, I believe with KF Gold you can access UA domestic lounges. I used to do this on a regular basis when travelling within the USA. Of course, my ticket also showed SQ*G, not UA*G. Showing your KFEG card is likely to work as well -- do let us know how it went!
