PPS Rewards Advance Upgrades

I have been trying to use an advance upgrade before it expires and unless I book out 8-10 months there is no availability. It appears they are categorized the same as a redemption upgrade (via miles) or maybe same category as a redemption booking. For a perk given with significant PPS spend, I would think the rules would be different. Currently waitlisted on LAX-SIN. A commercial seat is available for purchase so there is room in the 4-seat 77W config.

Any pointers or success stories from my fellow SQTalk flyers?

I have been able to use these closer to the departure time, such as two weeks out (where my original booking was in J standard / flex)

That being said, the routes where I was most successful on were 777 F to Haneda and Suites to Frankfurt. I suspect both flights tend to have lower demand (in particular Suites to Frankfurt is not very popular — but gives you a nice long day flight to enjoy the cabin service).

Nowadays my strategy is to book closer to departure as they may be more willing to open up upgrade availability using for TPPS.

On a separate topic, you can ask them to extend the vouchers closer to expiry — they may do so case by case for their TPPS as goodwill.
