  • Qualifying PPS Club for the first time

    Hi all,

Pardon my ignorance if I missed out any info in the forum.
I am trying to qualify for PPS club for the first time.
according to my account, I am short of PPS $10383, by 30 Nov 2016

Not a frequent traveler as many of you, it is just happened that this year I done a few SIN- Europe on SQ biz class.

I will have one more SIN-LHR (U) and LHR-SIN (J), booked as return trip out of SIN, in Sep 2016. I foresee it will give me about PPS $6100 (just guess base on the base fare)

My question is, can you advise a best way / best route, most cost-effective way for me to complete the PPS value that is lacking, for me to qualify for PPS club for the first time?

    Many thanks!

Probably not the answer you're looking for, but most would probably say that spending an extra $4000ish you wouldn't otherwise have spent to qualify for PPS probably isn't worth it for the benefits.

If you were going to be flying already anyway, that might change things, but that's not the impression I get from your post.

Yup chisquared is right privileges should come to you and not you have to go to it. FF Programs and other elite packages are deigned based on frequently usage benefits

Further $4k is not a sum most would agree to burn to reach pps. If it's a few hundred yes I and most would agree and do a miles burn trip.

But if you must attain then a few suggestions.
      Upgrade your LHR to suites
      Fly some regional in Suites
J a bit hard as you would need to do zone 9 or further

It's really hard to recommend as the direction is just PPS$, so how to achieve, well it can be anything.

Good luck and hope you achieve your goals

A bit late now. But something to keep in mind for next year. If your corporate policy doesn't forbid it, ask the travel agent to book you into the most expensive fare bucket to clock up PPS Value faster.

Thanks alian and chisquared for highlight to me.

Yes it doesn't sound right to burn $4k just to get that.

There is a potential trip to Shanghai, but I think still not enough for that.

Meanwhile, talking about upgrade to suite, it has to pay by cash for the upgrade to earn PPS value? Or can be upgrade with miles?

Yup cash upgrade. Miles redemption upgrade only give you what was paid in terms of KF miles , elite miles and pps$ on the original purchase entitlement and not the upgraded class

If you've not experienced suites you should consider as it is a real once in a life time experience. We did that on our honeymoon from LHR to SIN but only thru miles redemption (can't afford R class tickets) and it was awesome.

Disclaimer This suites recommendation is only from an experience perspective and only if you can afford please don't go for it just only for the pps and burn your wallet.

Unless you are the top in the company and nobody will question you, this will raise eye brows everywhere even if some other parties will be billed for it.

Do it more discreetly. Closer to date, change last minute to another flight. By then the lower fare buckets would have been used up and you would be in Z higher class fare with a fare top up.

If only I could do this in my present company. As it is already my company has just announced J class only for flights totaling 10 hours or more. It used to be J class for any flight over 7 hours or any red eye flight over 5 hours ...
