Requalification questions

Two related questions:

1. Suppose a FF is Qualified PPS for 4-5 years. What would happen if in a particular year there was not enough PPS spend and/or not enough PPS value to requailfy? Does the downgrading depend on the actual Elite miles flown? Or is there a soft landing to KF Gold?

2. Suppose another FF is KF Gold, but cannot collect enough miles to requalify. Would s/he be downgraded to Silver KF or Blue KF?

If you speculate to become a PPS, then soft-land to Gold and then a soft-land to Silver, I have bad news for you. Ain't gonna happen.

For PPS, SQ does apply a 'soft' soft-landing: PPS goes down to Silver if your Elite miles are anything between zero and 49,999.

Gold goes straight to Blue if you don't qualify for Silver.

Not speculating to become a PPS, I have been PPS for 5 years with 60,000 miles in the past year and enough PPS value to qualify for another year. The question is hypothetical in case in the next few years I may not be able to travel as much. Thanks for clarifying though.
