Fuel surcharge now counts toward PPS Value

    Just received the email:

Over the past year we have embarked on a series of revamps to serve you better and we hope that you have had the opportunity to benefit from some of these changes. In particular, we were encouraged by your positive response to the improvements made to our award charts, which now offer you the opportunity to redeem Saver awards in any of our cabin classes, including the Singapore Airlines Suites. Also, you can now enjoy the added benefit of earning miles even on attractive promotional fares in Economy Class.

As a step further, we are pleased to inform you that you will be able to earn PPS Value on the fuel surcharge component of your ticket, in addition to the airfare, when you travel in the Singapore Airlines Suites, First or Business Class on Singapore Airlines or SilkAir. This means that the amount you pay for fuel surcharge will now count towards your PPS Value and re-qualification as a PPS Club member. This change will be applicable for all eligible flights departing from 1 July 2013 regardless of when the booking was made. For more information, please refer to the Frequently Asked Questions below.

This change has come about as a result of the valuable feedback we have received from you and it has helped us greatly in planning for improvements to the programme. We will also be progressively introducing new initiatives to the programme in the coming months.

We appreciate your continued support and we look forward to sharing our plans with you soon.
Obviously I wish they would award this retroactively, but still a step in the right direction!

would be even better if the fuel surcharge on business and first class reward tickets would count as well :-)

Does anyone else feel just a little bit of dread with these words?
I think they've learnt to avoid the "E" word....replacing it with "initiatives".
F all the way. Settle for J. Usually whY. Sigh.

No. Fuel surcharge being counted towards PPS value is positive for us.

So I see initiatives aimed at keeping us loyal

Fuel surcharge is now counted towards PPS Value

A very good move given how high these can be.

Fuel surcharge to be counted towards PPS Value

This means that the amount you pay for fuel surcharge will now count towards your PPS Value and qualification or re-qualification as a PPS Club member.

This change will be applicable for all eligible flights departing from 1 July 2013 regardless of when the booking was made. For more information, please refer to the Frequently Asked Questions below or click here.
