Black Swan Event: Op-Up to Suites!

So it has finally happened!

A friend of mine (TPP) got upgraded to a Suite recently flying from SYD-SIN. All I can say is, after all those years of flying, it is about time SQ did this for him.

Is it too much to hope that this is the start of a trend?

SQ doesn't do courtesy upgrades. SQ only does op-ups. In this case, J was oversold for sure.

Asked my friend how it went, and he was raving about how good it was compared to J. He didn't know if it was oversold in J. After all that Dom Perignon, I doubt he was in any condition to climb the stairs to check how full the J cabin was...

Previously they do bump up pax in oversold flights to First but not to Suites.
