Please help clarify!

Hello all!

First post here and would ask you gurus a question or two if you have a moment!

Background

I'm currently pending a retroactive mile claim and should get Silver Elite status in 2 weeks or so! (Yay)

Currently my qualification period for elite status (before silver) according to the customer support is July 31st each year.

So here the question

I understand that once I get Silver status (lets hypothetically say by the end of May 31st 2013 next month) the qualification period will change from July 31st to May 31st. --> *** UPDATE turns out this is not the case. i got my miles retroactively approved and they said i will still have to wait until July 31st to wait on silver!*** So i guess the gold is another year of wait which I can't use cause I will be done flying so many trips! =(

1) Now, I will be doing another 25000+ miles of flying by Nov 2013 and so should in theory have made gold status by the end of the this year - is this assumption correct?

2) Assuming that it is correct, my gold status will last from Nov 2013 - Nov 2013 and in this period I must accure around 50,000 miles to maintain it, is that correct?

Why bother with SQ KF when you can get almost 3 years of *G with just 20k miles? Inversely *S only needs 4000 miles for a rolling 1 year requal. This is not inclusive of the bonus 1000 miles during sign up. This is on miles and bonus on Aegean air (A3)

I would take your suggestion if that airline flew my route.

I most commonly do the HKG-->SIN-->Australia back and forth 4-5 times a year.

That being said I now have silver is there a way to swap it for Marco polo silver? if so who do I approach?

Technically, you don't even have to fly on A3 to get *G status (correct me if I am wrong).

As for MPC, you could do away with the SIN leg and just do HKG-Australia 4x (direct) to get Silver status. I don't you could comp to Silver status on MPC by simply showing your Elite Silver status on SQ.

You mean I can just claim my Singapore Airline miles to get the Aegean Airlines status?

You could get status miles on any *A partners program as long as your ticket is mileage bearing. Meaning, you could fly on SQ and get A3 *G status with just 20k miles (instead of 50k miles on KF *G). That is what many people have been doing here.
