  • Wish I Could Earn Krisflyer Miles On Virgin America

I had the chance to take 2 Virgin America flights recently from their SFO hub.

    Experience:
Rather pleasant hub terminal with dedicated laptop stations at each gate.

Mood lighting and plush leather seats inside the cabin. Exudes a Private jet ambience. First Class section has the appearance of being contained in a large aquarium tank. Snazzy!

Inflight entertainment - nothing to bitch about: satellite TV as well as movies on demand.

Refreshments: you can just order your meals using touchscreen monitor and it will appear in a jiffy, rather than to wait for the service trolley to inch towards you.

I took a UA flight soon after and the difference could not be more stark. In fact, it was downright depressing

I am keeping my fingers crossed that Krisflyer will be able to establish a link with VA so that traveling domestic will be actually something to look forward to...

I was on VA from SFO to las Vegas 2 weeks backnand I must say I will definitely choose them as my first choice to fly internally. Upon stepping into aircraft I thought I am already in las Vegas! Cabin crew is great, service oriented and not grumpy.

Do you know you can connect to wifi with ** mobile onboard? 15 mins free

Hey! I was on that same leg too .. you are right about that Vegas vibe

I was too engrossed with the touchscreen-food ordering to notice about the free wifi till much later.

If you happen to upgrade to Economy Select, it is free flow of snacks and beverages.

Also, those white plushy First Class seats are really appealing and are quite attractively priced!

Hmm.. tempted to forgo some mileage just to relive the experience.. it is that compelling

Glad you liked my little carrier. Just a little note: it's "VX"; "VA" = V Australia...and you wouldn't want to upset KeithMEL.

SQ Krisflyer has partnerships with VS (Virgin Atlantic) and VA (V Australia). It doesn't have any link with VX (Virgin America). Have you gotten credit for your VX flights? or do you mean you wish you could earn miles on VX?

Wonderful trip report - loved all the details.

Good to know that I am not some lone wolf gushing about airline.

VA was used as a lazy short form for Virgin America. Why should anyone get upset.. they are all part of the virgin family

Thread title is a bit misleading. "Earning Krisflyer Miles On Virgin America" reads as if you've earned Krisflyer miles on VX while you are actually only dreaming about it.

Ok, I only amended my original post header.. how do I change the thread title proper?

Also, where is the search function for the forum (using key words for search)?

                    Many Thanks!

Word. If flying VX is like a large aquarium with mood lighting, my most recent experience flying UA domestic was like being on an illegal fishing trawler off the coast of Somalia! Packed to the max like a pile of fish dumped into the ice hold and I mean there are John Dories, sardines, snapper, grouper, and even some great white and mako sharks!

I keep telling myself I need to fly into FLL instead of MIA just so I could fly VX
Le jour de Saint Eugène, en traversant la Calle Mayor...

Indeed, even in J, where, on some UA aircraft, there is a a somewhat unusual seating arrangement with some pax facing backwards - almost staring straight into the sea of faces in the Y cabin.

Rather novel but it does impart a rather cluttered feel & does nothing for a jam packed aircraft...

Who or what is V Australia???

DJ/VA are both Virgin Australia now.
