  • Redemption ticket to MUC

My friend is thinking of using miles to redeem a EY ticket to join me on my work trip to MUC mid May.

As of today, I check the load. SIN-MUC EY 13 unsold. MUC-SIN EY 126 unsold.

Was told that trip can only be wait listed on both sectors. Looking at the current load right now, am I right to say that it's highly unlikely that it will be a confirmed ticket till very late? How late do kris flyer usually confirm their ticket if at all?

When will kris flyer confirm the ticket in my scenario? Is it possible that kris flyer will not confirm the ticket till the day of departure, thus effectively going to the airport with a sub load ticket, being able to check in only if there's empty EY seats?

I assume there are x number of seats per sector that are allocated to redemption. Is there any way of knowing how many of these seats have been taken?

Any other advice that can be offered to increase the chances of changing the "wait list" to "confirmed"? Does calling kris flyer or visiting the customer service centre at ion help?

Last resort would be to buy a ticket off the website I guess. At least can be assured of a seat both ways. Just thinking of burning off the miles since it covers MUC nicely.

    No status whatsoever.

Thanks for any help rendered in advance.

    Cheers.

There is no way of knowing if more seats open up for redemption.

One option is to go ahead and purchase your ticket right away and if a redemption seat opens up, you can cancel your paid ticket and pay whatever penalty is due - if that is ok with you.

At least, you are then assured of getting on the flight(s).
