I'm surprised to hear you have to disembark.

Back in 2007 I flew BCN-MXP-SIN and for the hour we were at MXP we were not allowed off the plane- no choice in the matter! I was in economy so I don't know about business. I've never flown another tagged flight so I just assumed that was standard protocol.
