It seem like SQ might have drop Ah Yat (Yeung Koon Yat) from their chief panel and updated some of the chef on their international culinary panel...

Anway I thought it was a bit harsh to say Ah-Yat is overrated... but I guess you probably live in Singapore and rarely dine at Ah-Yat Forum restaurant in HK... Ah-Yat is renown for his traditional Cantonese food cooking (he does not do fusion food like many up and coming Chinese chef)... many of the dish offer in his restaurant, you can't even have it in most restaurant nowadays because most chef don't even know how to make it anymore... also the Ah-Yat fried rice from his Forum Restaurant is probably the best fried rice in HK if not the world. If you are in HK on your next visit, I think you should go to Forum Restaurant and give it a try, I am sure you will be presently surprise.

        Just my two cents...

Nothing against their Culinary Panel on Singapore Airlines but why NO Jamie Oliver on the list.I watch his shows and anything he cooks even if it is for an airline makes a person hungry

Nigella, now that's one person who can turn you on by just talking!! It's a bit hard to watch her on telly and trying to concentrate on the food (only)...
God must have been a ship owner, he placed the raw materials far from where they are needed and covered two-thirds of the earth with water...

Many airlines have Culinary panels, I have always wondered what is in it for the celebrity chef, however from this thread, I am begging to see that it may work both ways as fliers will try the celebrity chefs restaurant after seeing their name and trying their food in-flight.

CO has their Congress Of Chefs and AA has their Conclave of Chefs, and I honestly could care less who inspired my meal, as long as it tastes good.

In my experience the dishes created and designed by the airline's corporate chefs tastes far better than the celebrity chefs dishes do. Mainly because the airline's corporate chefs understand the challenges of in-flight food and are better able to adapt their recipes for these different conditions.

                  Those are my two cents,
                  Dan
