  • Award ticket in J - will SQ allow waitlisting for previous day flight?

I'm currently scheduled in January for SQ25 from FRA to SIN in Business. This is an award ticket from Delta Airlines.

My question is if SQ25 is full/oversold in J, and SQ325 is not the previous day, will SQ consider allowing me onto that flight at FRA check in? If it's not oversold? I'd clearly love to get to SIN earlier, as I view it as being more exciting than FRA .

I'm trying to schedule my connecting train to FRA, so if there is a chance of getting it, I'll arrive earlier in FRA, otherwise later. I have no problem with hotel penalties for missing that night in FRA if I make it to SQ325.

    TIA.

How can anyone know if SQ25 is oversold before check-in closes? Many, probably most of SQ FRA/LHR, flights are overbooked in C, but there are usually sufficient no-shows that flights will go out nearly full. No one knows until check-in for SQ25 closes. I don't think DL C awards are allowed on SQ325 anyway. OTOH, anything is possible in case of irregular operations, but I would rate your chances at no higher than 1%.

On this very same route, using an award ticket like yourself - I tried the exact same thing once : No dice.

A family member had passed away and I needed to go home quick - so I had a pretty genuine cause, but as we all know, SQ325 J savers aren't available so bereavement or not, computer said no.

I'd say your chances you'll have to use your hotel night in FRA are pretty high

              That doesn't mean much.

It means flight is reasonably full. SQ holds back some seats for PPS priority waitlisting. I have seen flights where C cabin is only half full yet shows C0. Even if the flight is oversold, there could be no-shows which can only be ascertained when check-in closes.

You will be better off if you can change your confirmed SQ25 to the day before so that SQ can considering putting you on SQ325 after SQ25 check-in closes. Frankly, I have never heard of anyone being bumped off a flight to a day before unless there is irregular operations; for example impending snowstorm the next day.
