I hope it's not San Francisco, because I am flying on the 19th via HKG and coming on the 28th via ICN. If this affects my return back, I might have to cancel my SQ iteniary and go with another airline. I reserved this ticket for 1450. It isn't cheap though, so if I'm one of the pax if SFO is cancelled what can I do or what can SQ do?

Not necessarily, -- you base this on anything other than your speculation? Maybe they know that those flights will be empty on holidays and want to avoid wasting money flying empty planes.

Among the other costs that would be associated with flying those "empty" planes..

Agreed. It's quite a leap of logic to go from the cancellation of specific flights to the airline losing money overall.

In fact, a little research shows that it wasn't just speculation, it was groundless fabrication by this SQTalker.

SQ Returns to Profit in Q4 of 2009

SQ Q1 2010 Profit Is US$560M Turnaround From Q1 Loss Last Year

SQ Q2 2010 Profit is US$409M Turnaround from Q2 Loss Last Year
                      (Headlines are mine.)

                      Case closed.

I think it does make sense as I was on two of these 25 Dec flights the last two years running and there were very few people on board. It was the closest I've come to almost being switched into R

It won't appear on the site/blog since it's quite a routine cancellation due to low demand on major holidays....
