  • Interline baggage transfer.

    Hi guys,

I am flying SQ 478 to JNB and continue to EZE on SA 226(on two separate unrelated tickets) Anyone have any experience to check in bags through for that route. Could SQ do that? I want to avoid going through the immigration in JNB.

I do this regularly on two different routes; SIN-PEK-ULN and SIN-SFO(LAX)-YVR. In both the case the SIN and next destination are on one ticket (which I book online) while te next legs are on tickets issued by a local travel agent.

When checking in I hand over both the tickets to the SQ check-in person and they book my luggage all the way thru; Of course in SFO or LAX you have to take your thru the customs and then drop them on the interconnecting flights belt. In PEK the luggage goes straight to my destination.

I have used both Star Alliance and non star alliance as carriers for the connecting flights.

    Hope this helps

Does this rule apply for all US airports or just these 2 in particular?
