  • Incident in PEK

Just heard on radio that a SQ plane (772) had a minor collision with a CA plane while taxiing in PEK this morning at around 9am. Apparently the plane is still grounded in PEK. Anyone has more details?

SINGAPORE : The right wing tip of a Singapore Airlines plane scraped the tail of another aircraft while taxiing out to the runway for departure at Beijing's international airport.

A Singapore Airlines spokesperson said the aircraft returned to the gate on Saturday and an assessment is being carried out.

The flight from Beijing to Singapore has been cancelled.

The SIA spokesperson added that the 248 passengers are being provided with hotel accommodation in Beijing.

The airport was shrouded in fog at the time of the incident, said China's state media.

Today's SQ 810 and SQ 800 to PEK is replaced by a 773 to accomodate returning passengers later who are affected by the cancellation.

If that is indeed the reg of the said a/c, then a/c engineers and maybe pilots would see the irony in it.

IIRC something similar happened like this in SIN before right?

in sin just last year it was a SQ 777 hitting another SQ T7 bird -and before that a SQ 744 wing also knock off a ground eqpt in TPE - n likely there are similiar wing accidents further years back

Yes, that was SQ029. Both Pilot did not notice it and continue the flight to Singapore even CKS airport order to return.

I believe the SIN ATC was partially at fault in that incident.

And I'm surprised this made it to the front page of Straits Times as it was not that serious. It was not like lives were in imminent danger at any point in time. Must be slow news day today.

Is the irony about Strategic Risk Management? That's the only thing that comes to mind...
