  • Reported that SIA staff close to working full time hours

It has been recently reported that Singapore Airlines staff are back to working close to full-time hours as SIA climbs out of one of the toughest years in the carrier's financial history. They report that staff took an extra unpaid day off a fortnight last year to counter the slump in demand for travel.

Many of us talk about our experiences as PAX. It would be nice to hear from some of the crew and have there experiences during the downturn. Some of them might have enjoyed extra time of with familes, struggled to survive or had some interesting time off in other countires.

Are there any crew members around who could provide a human perspective on working for SIA during the GFC (global financial crisis)?

Don't think they are allowed to comment publicly, so I doubt you'd get a response. You can always find one or two offline, though

I'm seeing more flight frequencies added, so that should mean the crew are getting more hours.

I know a pilot for Quantas and he was on half shifts for ages but is now on full time work and completely flat out again. I think the industry is picking up generally now.

I was wondering if anyone who has worked with Air Yellow Submarine can provide a human face regarding their experiences during the GFC.

I understand that Air Yellow Submarine flies above the water.
