SIN-BKK A330?

2 or 3 weeks ago I walked past gate F34, where SQ976 was boarding. Apparently it was an A330, 9V-STC. Then today I was in the SQ ticketing office in T2 to get a ticket to HKG I asked the lady if BKK is operated by the A330 and she said "from time to time". Just wondering is this the case cause I thought they used 777-300/200s?

i think in future, all the regional routes like SGN, BKK, CGK, MNL etc etc will slowly be taken over by 330
