How long would they stay over on the US hop? Those suitcases are huge and can fit a kitchen sink

Or they do a few layovers in between routes to carry so much?

If I'm not mistaken, this set of crew look like they have arrived in the late morning, which means they have arrived from Seoul. They would have a 2 night layover in SFO, then it's back to Seoul again.

The big suitcases are probably for shopping in SFO and Seoul. Not to forget it is winter, so they would probably have bulky winter clothing.

What about the male cabin crew winter coat

is there anyone who thinks they need improvement on their footwear?
My hubby says they look like indonesian maids!

No, i think the Batik slippers adds to the SQ girl look. Tropical and elegant. Unlike MH, who stuck their crew in those ugly black shoes, takes away from the look and makes the uniform seem incomplete

Indeed, hastily designed after the SQ006 crash at Taipei. Perhaps something for SQ to redesign.

i think something nice would be , like a shoe made of that batik material, but has open toes design...that way it can show off some toe nails - feminine and classy.

The sandals r a bit too auntie in my opinion....especially when it 'flaps' and creates a plog plog plog sound when the walk fast on a cabin

They do have batik patterned shoes, but only worn during takeoffs and landings, after which they would switch back to their slippers.

What was the official footwear prior to the TPE crash?

Is it true they wore "crystal slippers" [actually made of plastic] before the crash?

By the way, I've always wondered how the Singapore girls kept 'warm' without their winter cape. I mean other airlines have matching coats or blazers worn on top of their shirts - analogous to the usual coat-and-tie male-FA-uniform. But I've never seen SQ (or MH and BI) girls ever wear a blazer or jacket on top of their kebaya. Perhaps they wear a special undershirt?

Prior to the TPE accident, there was only one type of footwear, which was the batik open-toe slip-on sandals which they still wear on board.

After the accident, it was felt that those sandals were not enough protection in the event of an emergency, and in fact could even be a hindrance as they prevented the wearer from running.

So a covered shoe with a backstrap was introduced for the female crew to wear during the critical phases of flight, i.e. taxiing, take-off, and landing. This was deemed to be safer for the wearer as it protected the toes, and also facilitated quicker movement should the need arise.

As for a special undershirt, sorry to disappoint you, there is no such garment for the female crew. Most times they rely on their winter overcoats, or simply bear with the chill. So if they appear to be a little 'frosty' at times, especially departing stations like DME, BJS, ICN, etc in the dead of winter, it would be nice if we could show them some warmth

For SQ 16 (SIN-ICN-SFO), the crew will stay 1 night at ICN, 2 nights in SFO, then another 2 nites at ICN again.

Bearing in mind more of them are taking the 'easy option' and covering their feet up these days anyway, open toe shoes could possibly become pointless.

I agree with the comment above about the MH crew shoes. They are awful and do not look right with a Kebaya.

Sometimes I wonder what types of footwear do SQ girls wear during winter after arrival at stations such as, FRA, ZRH, DME, JFK, EWR, etc. Are they walking on their batik sandals outside the terminal building into a bus that is waiting to take them to their hotel? I must feel sorry if their nice toes are all freezing and what happen if there is snow on the ground, how do they walk with those slippers? Does anybody have any picture of this? :-)

Most of the time, they are in their batik sandals. They are given the dispensation to wear their safety shoes, but that's not really much help in the biting cold of winter in DME, ICN, PEK, et al. In deep winter situations, thet are also allowed to wear black leather boots, but how convenient do you reckon it is for them to carry a pair of heavy leather boots in their cabin bags together with their winter coats? I have never seen a Singapore Girl wearing black leather boots while in uniform.
