  • Credit Card Verification

The policy now is as follows:

"The credit card holder will be required to:
    a) Present the Credit/Debit Card used for this booking for verification and
    b) Personally submit a Letter of Indemnity at the nearest Singapore Airlines Ticket Office before departure.
However if you pay with a Visa or MasterCard registered under the Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode programmes or Direct Debit then you may not need to present your card for verification nor submit a Letter of Indemnity, except for the list of following countries, please click here to view (namely Pakistan, Philippines and Thailand)"

There's no need for verification anymore if the payer is not flying?

    Is this new?

      Hi all, sorry to bump

If I use my cc to pay for the taxes of the redemption ticket for a friend, will she encounter any problems upon check-in? I'm not entirely sure my cc will be verified with the one time PIN thing and AFAIK..

And also she will be on separate tickets for SIN-MNL and MNL-SIN, so I'm wondering if I will need to sign the LOI thing..

Redemption tickets don't have this issue

        Love It

If GOD created me for only 1 reason. That reason would be to the love of my wife. If there was any other reasons involved, that would be for the love of Singapore Airlines

I'd beg to differ. I was asked for the card used to pay the award ticket on SQ last year March. Though it was using UA miles on SQ flight.

Can't say for UA for SQ flights but I am sure for KF on SQ flights. Double confirmed it with SQ's Call Center as well.

Besides, it does not make sense. Redemption ticket means that person flying have a good chance of not being the person paying, unlike commercial tickets.

Isn't that actually why it does make sense? (possibility of CC fraud)

It has been there for long time. I remember 3 years back my wife was demand to show my credit card when I booked for her SQ trip from Singapore to Shanghai to join me there !
After a heated "discussion" at the airport, I have to call them from Shanghai to comfirm the ticket was booked by me via internet from Shanghai. Strange enough, how do they know that was me?

I don't think they enforce this all the time. I've done two flights this year on redemption and I was never asked for my credit card. However, I do remember being asked for it a few years ago.

It would be interesting to know under what circumstances do they request for the credit cards or it is a random exercise.

Indeed it is in place since a long time ago.
SQ is assuming everyone in this world lives in a small city where you can easily pop in SQ sales office or SQ airport counter like Singapore by MRT or taxi or bus.

You are right. may be only for those staff who really read the small print.

now, just wondering what happened if my credit card is expiring before my travel date? I did verify it via airport as asked because I was ordering the tix via telephone. The "credit card not verified" warning on the website disappeared. Just wondering though if they ask for credit card.
