  • Lost Item at SQ Boarding Gate at Narita

Need some help from SQ Talkers who were on SQ637 at Narita on 14 or 15 Dec. I had the unfortunate experience of leaving my video camera at Gate 46 and only realised it when I arrived at Changi on 14 Dec. Subsequent calls to Narita Lost & Found have drawn a blank. The SQ staff on the phone at Narita were very helpful but have yet to get back to me.

I know that chances of recovering my video camera are not good but I am just trying my luck. I understand that Gate 46 is mainly used by SQ638/637. If any SQ Talkers were on SQ637 on either the 14 or 15 Dec and came across this item, I would be most grateful if there is any information on it. Its a dark brown bag with the word 'Legria' on it and contains a Canon Legria Video camera model HF20, an 8mb SD card and a spare battery.

By the way, has anyone had the experience of losing any item while travelling on SQ either with a good or bad ending?

    Thanks!

Unfortunately gate 46 is an open concept gate which means that more people would have had access to the area. I'm really sorry to hear that and I hope that someone found it and turned it over to gate staff. If it's any consolation, it's Japan and if I'm going to misplace an item, there are few places in the world I would rather misplace it at.

I'm flying through Narita back to Singapore next thursday again. If the item is found I'm happy to pick it up for you. Just drop me a pm or something.

Hi, I am having a rather similar experience and I am in need of some help. I left a pair of glasses on SQ801 from Beijing to Singapore. What should I do? Is there a lost and found line I could call? Does anyone have a similar experience with Singapore Airlines? Please help and thanks in advance, all your inputs are valuable to me.

I am not aware of a specific lost and found line, and would doubt there is one. However, if you call SQ and explain the situation to them I am sure they will be able to point you to who you need to speak too.

I dropped my mobile phone at the gate security in SIN, but didn't realise that until a few moments before landing in MEL. I told the FA onboard who took my contact details and promised to pass it on to the ground staff.

1 week or so later, I got an email from SQ saying they found my phone in SIN and will send it to their MEL station for me to pick it up.

I cheekily asked if they will send it to my home and they agreed if I provided them with a waiver in case the item got lost/damaged. Good stuff !

So yes, if you're lucky and your missing item was found and handed over to the relevant people, then the chances of getting it back is pretty good.

That's absolutely great news, KFly! Kudos to SQ for offering to even send it back for you directly.

Unfortunately, it boils down to who picks up your lost item. In the last 12 years I had 3 episodes of leaving an item behind on SQ aircraft or at the boarding gate. I was only able to retrieve one item. This was a jacket left on board in 1997. A book which my wife left on board 2 years ago was never found. The video camera left at the boarding gate in Narita last December has not been found.

In all 3 eposides, the loss was discovered after I arrived back in Singapore. I called the SQ Lost & Found line to report the loss of the jacket & the book. As for my camera, the SQ crew advised me to make a report at the Lost & Found at T3 where I filled up a lost item report.

I was not too impressed at how the Lost & Found at T3 handled my case. They called me back within 12 hours to say that Narita had not not found my camera and that they were closing the case. Personally, I felt that they could have told me that the case would remain open for a day or two before they closed it. I subsequently made calls to SQ at Narita and also Narita Loss & Found. In both cases they advised me to called back in a day or two to check again.
