  • Spacebeds on 777-200?

    Hi All,

I haven't seen this thread elsewhere so I thought I'd post. I was recently on a flight from Singapore to Manila (SQ918) which I travel on semi-regularly on both J and Y. I noticed this time that the J seats have ben converted to SpaceBeds.

I've not seen any mention of these via press release or on this forum - is this part of SQ's renewal project? My only guess is that the seats from the de-commissioned 744s have been ripped out, refurbished, and are being put in these planes.

In any case, it's good news finally that Asian flights are getting nicer seats with AVOD - I know it's generally only 3 hours or so but now it means slightly less boredom on these flights as I don't have to watch what I'm told to watch.

No refurbishments done on the B772s as yet. You were just lucky to get the long-haul B772ER (9V-SV*) on the flight. The B772ERs do operate some regional routes such as Ho Chi Minh, Taipei, KL, Penang etc from time to time due to aircraft scheduling.

Yes, i noticed this as well when i did SIN-MNL-SIN last week.

I queried it with the stewardess and they confirmed that the scheduled aircraft for the two class configurations (twice a day) is allways scheduled to be the spacebed.

I normally do this route in F , but now i will chose the J class (spacebed option) as it is cheaper and a much better seat than regional F.

Hmm thought it said it was a B777-200 (not ER) when I looked at the safety guidelines. That said I'm pretty sure the plane was 9V-SVA. No first class either - I assume that's in line with the rest of the long-haul 772ERs?

            Correct.

            No first class.

And 777-200ERs are the only ones equipped with SpaceBed.

For SIN-Manila, SQ912 and SQ918 are the flights which are on B777-200ER and equipped with spacebed.

Spacebeds? You mean the new regional J or a new type of seats?

Spacebeds are those similarly found on the J class of B747s.

Makes it kind of ironic that my much longer flight to PEK will be on Regional product only.

They were the primary staple of the long haul J seating before the new long haul J came out in 2006.

Hmm, I do miss the 772ER on my much missed SQ 17/18. Maybe it's time to fly SQ to MNL and say "Mabuhay!" to an old friend
Le jour de Saint Eugène, en traversant la Calle Mayor...

IIRC, Guangzhou is always flown with a SV aircraft.

Beijing is on a 3-class service, no?
