  • SQ A340-500 destinations

AFAIK Jakarta, New York, and Los Angeles are served on the A340-500, what other routes are used on the A340-500 from Singapore other than those 3 routes?

No more Jakarta. Now the A345s fly only to Los Angeles and New York Newark.

Back when the 345 was still a two-class cabin aircraft, I thought it was genius that they were scheduling it to CGK, serving one of SIA's undoubtedly most lucrative markets. That station, which has no direct flights to the US, could claim to have a one stop connection through SIN on SQ to LAX or EWR on a single type of aircraft.

and just to go off tangent a little, the A345 services between SIN and LAX/EWR seems to be cut from five to three times weekly beginning October 26, 2009 on the new schedule. Is this true?

Does anyone think that SIN-EWR non stop would be cut further down the road, judging by what happened to TG's BKK-JFK and MH's KUL-ARN-EWR

          Do you have a source?

Dummy booking SIN-EWR in Nov still shows 5x weekly.

In fact, friend recently complained couldn't get a seat EWR-SIN on a Fri.

          Waitlisted on Sat. That cleared.

I was merely looking at their new schedule issued on Sep 09. It says SQ21 flies on 1, 4 and 5 effective October 26.

That must be an error, sq 21 still fly on Sat and Sun. I just did dummy booking and it still shows that.

I can't find the change either, on SQ website or www.airlineroute.net.

I do hope you are mistaken EWR! I really do!

I found this on page 340 of SQ's PDF schedule:

                  To NEWARK EWR GMT-4:00
                  1 . . 4 5 6 7 1040/1750 SQ22 Non-Stop 345 Disc. OCT25
                  1 . . 4 5 . . 1215/1845 SQ22 Non-Stop 345 Eff. OCT26

I guess they must have made a mistake, cos I also found Sat and Sun to be available for booking. It's interesting it only costs S$8,125 round trip from SIN for that flight now... I remember it used to be like over S$12,000

(I don't post that much so forgive me.)

From SQ's timetable, it seems: SQ 11/12 will be reduced from 7 weekly to 6 weekly 744s and SQ 37/38 from 5 to 3 weekly 345s. The effect has been reflected on connecting flights to Southeast Asian cities.
