  • Uniform question ?

I'm familiar with most of the cabin crew grades, but spotted a gold tie on one of the stewards in the usual SQ style. Did he forget to bring his own, or was this some award along the lines of "cabin crew of the year" or something?

      VC10 Boy,

Gold tie is one of the internal auditors, they are there to do random checks on the crew and ensure everything is in proper order, the crew are usually "afraid" of such auditors and will perform to their best usually.

Sorry I didn't search; hadn't realised it had come up before. In fairness though I have to admit the service was nothing short of perfect, but in all reality, it was no different to a usual LHR SIN. I enjoyed it as much as though they weren't there.

I was offered a choice of magazines and selected Top Gear and Men's Health. We joked about buying a new Ferrari or whether to go for Porsche, effort versus pec implants, and concluded a new GT California and pec implants if it didn't scar. It made me feel right at home, comfortable and relaxed and looking forward to the flight. Oh and this was from a blue tie.

I've had similary engaging conversations (though not [yet] about pec implants ) on my flights. e.g., Theology on SIN-BKK, photography on LHR-SIN. Love it.

Actually they are not auditors... they work for a department called "CABIN CREW PERFORMANCE" .. so they are like quality inspectors... and yes, service improves .. but the crew feel more stressed out with them around...
