Does anyone know of SQ intentions with flights Singapore to and from Amsterdam, Manchester and/or Rome changing from 777-200ER to A380 or 777-300ER and if they are possible timelines before June 2010?
Thanks

But if you want a J/C Saver Award it would be best to book before any official SQ announcement. ie When Saver will be then removed (or at least till SQ starts offering Savers on the newer planes).
I have booked for July 2010 for both MAN and AMS from SIN, and while an upgrade will be nice as I have booked it at the Saver J price I am not concerned if it is not.

No wonder slow-coaches like me almost never secure a seat! Haha...
How are you able to plan so far ahead? What happens if you need to change dates of flights? I heard that if there is an equipment change to say a 77W or 380, the saver J date cannot be changed unless you top up to a full award.

According to my crystal ball.
No.
No.
No.
These markets do not warrant any increase in capacity, SQ's product is still competitive on these routes due to lack of or comparable to competition.
From what I see, I think SQ does not have too many choices. Some airports are plainly not ready for the A380s and others not enough load. They will have the headache of fitting in the later A380s. The other airlines that ordered more A380s will have larger issues at least in today's climate.

A380 for MAn and FCO? Not a chance IMO. They're not even daily routes. 772 to A380 is a big capacity plus the introduction of R into routes where F is not offered is going to be hard to sell. Even for AMS I don't see much chance.
SQ has no more new 77Ws to be delivered so 77W routes are pretty much fixed like this for now. The only new ones are likely to be SIN-NRT-LAX and SIN-FRA-JFK. (744 replacements)
The timeline for SQ sending WhaleJets to AMS, MAN, and FCO is never. It would require the demand to more than double from 2007 levels and that clearly won't happen during the time WhaleJets will be in service with SQ (probably until about 2020).
In this case those 3 weeks are School Holidays and so I am taking leave to coincide with that.
Secondly my work revolves around major projects which have a fixed delivery time and which I can often set 12 months out. Immediately afterwards I have a quiet period perfect for leave.
So in this case I have been pro-active and have fixed in the major projects due to occur mid next year.
Conversely if I don't really think about my leave well in advance I can be locked out of going when I might want to, and last minute trips can be impossible to get time off for. So there are pros and cons.
My Vietnam J redemptions for Xmas were done not too long ago, but there is huge availability over the Christmas period to those destinations.
What happens if you need to change dates of flights?
In my case for this trip it would be three weeks or nothing.
So I would just cancel.
Dates are determined by School Holidays.
With a late afternoon flight the plan is to pick up my daughters from School and straight to the J lounge and flight that day to maximise the time away.
Next target is 4 more J Awards to somewhere else in Europe for Christmas 2010.
