  • The PPS Population

Recently, I visited SQ ION. Noted the following:

    1. No water or coffee machine anymore.
    2. No exclusive section.
    3. No. of staff seems reduced and some merging with F Class counters.

The number of PPS members waiting seems to have drastically reduced. For the past half a dozen visits shown the same except with each subsequent visit indicated a declining trend. In the past, I always have to wait even in the PPS Section.

It may be a contributing reason to downscale the PPS Section from the days of Paragon. The other is of course cost cutting as shown with no mineral water or newspaper availability.

The other thing even with my lowly QPPS status, I seems to have operational upgrades more readily than in the past five years as QPPS when I got nothing at all.

Last month, I have spoken to one or two insiders and they noted the number of PPS have declined drastically. No number given.

I guessed it is on the way to becoming more exclusive as predicted.

I believed you did not explore deep enough. There is a mineral water dispenser next to counter #1 at the PPS section. But this water dispenser is also shared with street smart non-PPS members too.

It's a pity that the "PPS Club Service Centre" is a thing of the past....

I heard less than 50 LPP.

        Doesn't sound right...

For S$25,000 a year of travel $ with SQ to qualify for PPS, I'm surprise they are not serving high-tea in the PPS centre

              That sounds awefully low.

We know there is one LPP in Canada.

That sounds low. 23K worldwide for QPP/TPP/LPP combined sounds plausible.

That would be Singapore alone. And means 600,000,000 SGD in revenue - every year. I would treat them very nicely...

Interesting! I guess that means around 45K worldwide? One would think around 50% of PPS are based in SIN.

That sounds more like a worldwide figure than a Singapore figure to me.

Given that the number of Singapore-based PPS members was 20,000 back in 2003 or 2004 and growing rapidly then, SQ's plan to cull members might just have worked.

I have seen more people losing PPS status then gaining in the past 2 years. The culling is working well...maybe too well. My feeling is 23,000 worldwide.

yes i feel more confident now. i heard about it from a colleague who got invited to one of the PPS dinners this year.

if the majority of PPS members are S'pore based business travellers and hence "captive" customers, it makes sense to cut costs...
