SQ 37 no longer non-stop?

I arrived today at Changi around 7:30am and saw that SQ 37 baggage on the adjacent belt. The display showed "SQ0037 Los Angeles/Osaka Kansai". Thinking it was odd I checked on SQ site and sure enough this was legit.

So is this the new routing adjustment to justify loading or a one off incident. I am curious as to how a non-stop flight can be made to stop and pick up passengers en route?

Not sure what is the reason, but it is only for today, tomorrow morning's arrival on SQ37 is already flying now and is direct from LAX to SIN.
