  • How to turn new J seat into bed?

Sorry to post this here as couldn't find this info elsewhere doing a quick search and didn't want to start a new thread on it as I am sure the info is located somewhere - does anyone know if there is any info on how to turn your J seat onto bed mode on the a380 and 77W?

Unlike on a 744/77W F or on a380 R where the FA would do this for the pax, is it cool to request the FA to turn the J seat onto bed or is the pax expected to do this him/herself?

    Thanks in advance.

There is a short video showing how to do it when you board/before the safety video.

If you ask nicely you'll probably get some help if needed.

I didn't have to ask when I was sat on the 77W in J my first (and only) time. Crew came along and asked if I would like the bed made up. It was the Red kebaya who asked, and she kept a watchful eye on the blue kebaya while both made the bed together.

Not exactly rocket science to make up the J bed. I would have figured it out myself if I had to make the bed. The A380 R seems a lot more complicated.

I think the video is also in the new KrisWorld, SQ All The Way. (Like phaleesy, I didn't have to use it because the FSS prepared the bed for me ... and she even insisted she tuck me in. )

Thanks willio777 for sharing the video, this is great and looks pretty easy to turn it into a bed.

I was recently flying on SQ637 (a380 NRT-SIN) seated in 17A and I chatted with one of the blue kebaya FA's on this segment for a few minutes (have met her twice now on this segment - has anyone met the same FA more than once on the "same" segment?). She graduated from the same university in the UK as I did of course a few years apart. As we ended the conversation, I informed her that I would try and get some sleep if I can for a couple of hours. She asked if she could setup the bed, I was a little hesistant however she insisted and I accepted her offer (however didn't get her to tuck me in). She was sweet and very nice.

The reason I asked the question is that I noticed a few pax on both my flights (SIN-NRT and NRT-SIN) were trying to setup their own bed. I completely missed the video part.

jjpb3 and phaleesy, I am still one behind the two of you, need to get someone to tuck me in the next time - that would be awesome.

Can one have breakfast (or any other meal) in bed? Does the tray table deploy (and in a convenient place) for in-bed meals/snacking?

I ask because it seems inconvenient, especially on long flights, to stow the bed between naps in order to have a mid-flight meal.

                    Yes to both your questions

The table height can also be adjusted to suit you

For longhaul, I find it easier to convert the seat into bed mode and then just eat or watch or work the laptop sitting as if I would on a real bed. With the adjustable table height, no need for me to switch seat modes.

I consider the adjustable table height an ingenious feature.

I forgot to add that the table also swivels so you can adjust as you desire.

Excellent. I hope to be able to fly SQ C and try out these flat beds sometime! If only SQ would make it economic to do so...
