Flexi Y class ticket SIN-HKG --> any chance for upgrade

Previously, I was on wait list for Economy class round trip ticket SIN-HKG, now I have been confirm on my flight tomorrow on SQ 862 and return on Sunday on SQ 861. I am a KF Elite member, and I paid economy class ticket on the flexible terms (not promotion). Is there high chance I can get upgraded to biz class? I check biz class and there is still availability on these 2 flights. Is there any trick to it , e.g. not checking in online and not choosing any seats etc?

Ok I think you are referring to operational upgrade.

What you need to check is: Is economy class full ? (and preferably overbook)

However, as a KF Gold your chances of being upgraded are quite low. SQ will upgrade the PPS members first. Since I started travelling regularly 4 years ago, have only been upgraded once (as a KFG) - LHR to SIN sector.

Ah, operational upgrade, it's actually quite easy to get those. Only the following needs to happen, and you're off to a higher class of service!

1) Just have high enough status
2) The flight doesn't clear
3) You are not marked NSFU

Just found out earlier over supper that 3 friends are on SQ862 later today and 2 are TPP. I'm doubtful you get yr upgrade on the outbound but all the best

Not at the counter, but I have done so for one of my SQ tickets late last year. Cost was $700 more which I had other reasons for purchasing aside from the service aspect.

In a roundabout way, I was also 'Soft Up'-ed on this same flight.
