On-Line Booking and Seat Selection

I've just redeemed an F Saver award SYD-SIN-HKG for end July for 2 of my redemption nominees, on singaporeair.com.

I was able to immediately select seats for SYD-SIN.
But for days now, I have not been able to do the same for SIN-HKG.

This is the message I get, each time:

! Seat selection for this flight is currently unavailable. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Does anyone have an explanation for this?
I'm thinking that it may have something to do with an impending change of equipment.
It's currently showing a B777-200 for SQ870.

I have the exact problem except I redeemed F for HKG-SIN. No idea why either but I called up the SQ office in SIN and they managed to get me my seat choice.
