Silver Kris Mag: 747 discontinued from Oct 09 ?

It's been mentioned a few times on this forum that in the May 09 edition of SK magazine, it was announced that from October 09 SQ will cease the use of 747's.

I don't mean to be a PITA....
but I can't find this referred to anywhere in the magazine, and I've looked from cover to cover!

Also, apologies if this post should appear in the 747 withdrawal thread.

I looked and could not find it either. But I remember in 1996 (can't remember which month though), there was an article in a Silver Kris Magazine that stated by late 1997 to early 1998, the 747 fleet will be all Megatops, but the Big Tops stuck around till 1999/2000. So sometimes, things don't go the way they are planned.

My guess is between Oct '09-Mar '10, the remaining 744 routes will slowly be replaced by 77W.

I was pretty sure that when Oct 09' was first mentioned it was referenced to the April 09' edition making that time frame prediction.

I could be wrong but remember thinking I wish I had have kept the April magazine to re-read.

I would tend to believe SQflyergirl that it was in the May edition, before you believe my hunch though.

All I need is SQ 228 (Mel to Sin) on the 30th of October to still be a 747 - It will be my first ever flight with SQ and hopefully fingers crossed first flight ever on a 747 !!! dont let me down SQ

I even checked back to the Mar 09 issue.

Anyways....back to dreaming of my next and maybe last Skysuite experience.

Well then it looks like this report of SQ's 744 fleet finishing in October maybe just rumor if nobody can find the article.

Maybe a new Roswell or at least Urban Legend.
