    I was quoted... *blush*

LX/LH access to SQ inventory on 77W/380 is still a mystery - I still have to test whether there is any access other than Starnet (which shows on ANA)...

You would need 2 eVouchers for any international sector. Not sure how LH is handling upgrade requests for direct fligths with a stop.

Can I ask whether i would need two evouchers on an SQ flight with a stopover i.e. SQ 1/2 to SFO or SQ 25/26? IN addition I'm assuming there are no longer any upgrade restrictions on SQ's 77W aircraft or is that an incorrect assumption?

As long as the flight doesn't change number, it's 2 evouchers.

The old OS1/2 VIE-MEL run was perfect for that use.

Note there are conflicting reports on NZ accepting/refusing to allow evouchers to upgrade NZ LHR-AKL vv

update on using M&M e-vouchers on SQ

apologies for resurrecting this thread but may i check if there has been any recent changes to the use of e-vouchers for upgrading from economy to business on SQ? i ask as i have not done this before and have expiring e-vouchers to use - hence was thinking of upgrading on flight from sin-munich this coming november. how does one check for the availability of I class seats?

Yes, you can use LH e-vouchers...both economy to business and business to first. Easiest way to check is using the online upgrade function. The usual LH fare class restrictions for upgrades apply.

I have successfully used eVouchers to upgrade SQ flights this year.

For Economy, only tickets in S, Y and B can be upgraded to Business Class.

For Business, all classes Z, C, D and J can be upgraded to First Class.

Upgrades are possible for all flights and products and there have been reports of successful upgrades to Suites as well (SQ has recently also offered (limited) A availability for Suites and offers 'regular' upgrades at Standard Awards pricing).

Availability for upgrades is not visible - neither for LH nor for us. You have to call LH and they have to do a blind long sell: they have to enter all your details into the upgrade request and have to send it over to SQ.

Alternatively, you can use the Online Upgrade Tool but this tool is still very unreliable.

My successful upgrades were tickets in D that were upgraded to F on 77W aircraft. I called LH and followed the process as described above.

To add to SMK77's succinct summary, I have successfully used the LH Online Upgrade Tool this year for SQ to in booking class J to F/O.

Many thanks! As most of SQ's on line economy tix are in E class, may I enquire how one gets S Y or B fares?

I know it sounds churlish but upgrading to 1st on the 77W is not as attractive as getting out of economy!

You need to call them, usually the difference between E and B is very little.

LH is upgrading the most expensive booking classes in Economy (S, Y, B on SQ) for less miles. No need to use your eVouchers, unless you never book J.

thanks! very helpful info. will call pps and senator to compare options
have 2 e-vouchers expiring by the end of this year so have to think of ways to utilise them....was in paid J several times this year but always in 77W (Moscow, Barcelona, Manchester) except for last minute change to a 380 from London (should have tried for a Suite upgrade!) and that cramped forward F cabin has never appealed. now regret that i did not use e-vouchers on my last 747 J flight....really miss that F cabin!

thanks for the advice. have called SQ and LH and confirmed that its only S$200difference between E and B and another $300 to Y but was told by M&M that an upgrade requires 50k miles per sector regardless....only caveat being that there is no way of determining of one can use M&M miles or an e-voucher until the ticket is bought. Have checked on SQ's website and on the days I looking at in November, redemptions using KF miles are available as standard and waitlisted in saver - does this give any indication of whether M&M upgrades are possible?

From my experience you need "Saver" availability in KF to have the upgrade work (whether miles or eVoucher doesn't matter). Now even if SQ is showing Saver awards on the day / flight still does not mean that LH M&M will be able to upgrade your sector. Chances are decent, but not guaranteed.

I did use eVouchers before to upgrade from Y to C on SQ flights between SIN-FRA-SIN on B747 which in my book was still good value as I normally don't buy C fares for personal travel (more like redeeming in C rather) and have to travel Y for the firm mostly these days Of course SMK77 is right that if you have C fare and upgrade to F you get the much bigger bang for the eVouchers.

The problem is, even if you're willing to pay more for Y or B, you can still not be sure that LH will have seats available to upgrade you. From my experience they'll most likely not. An SQ agent once told me, even if they'd see availability for upgrades on their flights, it doesn't mean LH will give out any. Sounded like they get some amounts allocated.

                                Y to J is 50K miles and J to F is 65K miles. Only Y and B can be upgraded to J.

Saver awards availability is only an indicator, not guaranteed. But Y and B is pretty flexible, and you can always fly to other European cities and connect.
