  • Aircraft Type to AMS

The SQ Schedule for my flights in September show that both the SIN-AMS flight (10th of Sep) and the AMS-SIN flight (21st of Sep) are operated by 777-200/200ER aircraft. Is there any way of finding out which one it will be? Will it be the 777-200 or the 777-200ER?

SQ's derated 777s (listed as 777-200), don't have the range to fly SIN-AMS.

Thanks for the replies... that makes me feel somewhat better. However why would the 777-200 be listed if it is not used...glitch perhaps?

It will be a 777-200ER with Spacebeds in C, and AVOD throughout with Wisemen 3000.

Don't the 772ER have 34" pitch in Y? It should be definitely more comfortable than the 747 overall, if in Y.

Well, I don't think there's an established way of differentating between -200 (ER derated) and -200ER in terms of listing by 3-digit code, so the interpretation of those codes will also be quite generic - that's why it shows both types.

i think any SQ flights which are operated by the 772 family will be listed as 777-200/777-200ER. This is meant for consistency in relation to domestic routes where 777-200ERs usually do a couple of shortish runs in order to fulfil several operational reqts/quotas.

Is it just the 777-200ER that has the 34" pitch?

I think it's 33", compared to 32" for the other 777's. Not 100% sure though.

yes SQ's is 33" (as ius rthe max that SQ aircraft have) as the standard SQ pitch is 32". MH and Thai 744s n 772s have 34" pitch.

Well I have been on that bird a few times in C (oh good times of the past) and Y an as far as I know (without actually having measured it myself ) the pitch is 34". It is the only one in SQ's fleet that I'm aware off that has this pitch.

Seat Guru also states 34" pitch but then Seat expert says 32-33". Ph well why don't you just measure and let us know

believed the seat pitch have been stated by SQ press releases itself as 32" and 33" - but if one have taken MH or Thai 744s n 772s, then it would be apparent the difference between a 32" and 34" for a seasoned traveller.

AMS kind off far not to have any lie-flat for J...

Would affect the competitiveness of SQ in this sector, no?

SQ are phasing out the inclined lie-flat SpaceBeds in favour of the new J introduced with the 777-300ER. Most airlines make such updates to the whole fleet in parallel, but SQ take their time, one subfleet at a time. Seat product consistency does not seem to be a high priority at SQ.

In my opinion, now would be a good time to reconfigure the (non-rated) newer 777-200ERs. Taking a few at a time out of service would not hurt as they are not suffering any capacity constraints right now. Having fewer seats when they are returned to service would also not hurt right now. The improved product would raise yields.

Not really. The only other competitor in SIN-AMS non-stop sector is KLM, which has a much inferior product. The J seat on KLM is only reclines to 175 degree (not even lie-flat) and it is 7 abreast (2-3-2) vs SQ Spacebed 2-2-2.
