  • SQ A380 Ops at Paris CDG

SQ commences A380 ops at Paris CDG in June 2009.

SQ is currently based at T1 which offers cramped, oddly shaped aircraft parking apron areas. Wouldn't the A380 long wing span pose a challenge in navigating through these 7 satellite buildings at CDG T1?

S3 is a purposefully built A380 ready terminal that is connected to T2E and T2F. Wouldn't it make sense for SQ to shift its operations to these connected terminals especially with its impending A380 services?

Terminals 2E/2F are connected to Terminal S3. All these terminals are not designated on outgoing regional/international flight destination bloc basis. However, notably, Delta, Korean, China Southern, AF and Alitalia are clustered in these terminals - so maybe it is a Skyteam terminal designated arrangement.

It would have been a great opportunity for SQ to move to S3 otherwise, especially since there are no Silver Kris Lounge shifting costs to take into consideration (no SKL at CDG).

I believe all the Star Alliance carriers at CDG use T1.

SQ380 will be operated from CDG terminal 1 stand Z9 insteed of T8 ( change already done ) with only 2 airbridge !!!

SQ and others T1 airlines were not suposed to fly A380 on short term basis, that's why initial investments was done only at CDG 2 for AF/EK/EY.

I don"t think AF would like to host SQ at T3 furthermore T2- S3 is dedicated to Skyteam airlines

T1 to T2 is quite far, though not as far as at SVO. There are buses, but I don't know whether or not an airside transit is possible.

            No more airside transit bus...........

            from ADP website :

You are landing at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Terminal 2E
and your connecting flight is at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Terminal 1

On leaving the aircraft, follow the signs for “Exit - Baggage Reclaim”.
Once you have gone through passport control and customs,

            your route

            go to exit 2.04.

Take the free Aéroports de Paris shuttle to Terminal 1.
            - Frequency: every 18 to 25 minutes, 24/7.
            - Free service.

You 'd better take CDGVAL (like skytrain) it's faster and easier...

Frankly, I don't think CDG is that bad, however, the majority of the postings on your web link seems quite the contrary.

CDG T2 is ok, but T1 is very dark and dreary.

CDG 1 is able to receive A380 but due to the lack of a third jetway at T1 it may impact usual boarding process/sequence especially for Y passenger on the upper deck. I assume that R and J pax will use door 11 and Y pax will use door 12

I'm a bit afraid about security check capacity....

Don't worry I will let you "live".

Is there any other SQTALK menbers on the inaugural flight SQ333 ????

                      Greetings from Siem Reap, Cambodia...

                      Air Canada (still) uses T2A....

I did a connection (from AC to SQ) on May 7th in CDG...it really wasn't that bad....although tolerance levels may differ from person to person, and there were some helping factors; such as priority baggage tagging, and being on the first bus to the terminal (as our plane was parked at a remote stand)..My bags were only ticketed to CDG, got them...zipped right through immigration...and started the looongg walk to the CDGVAL...i think it took anywhere between 10-15 mins to walk it..got to T1, checked in with SQ...and then headed upstairs to the emmigration...that was the longest part in all honesty....there were quite a few people there, but oh well....10-15 mins later..im through and off to the dungeon lounge

I had 2h30 to make the connection, and it took me anywhere between 1hr and 1hr20mins

I do and do not look forward to my return trip home on the 2nd...i do because on the 1st i get to fly the A380...not looking forward to it because my vacation will be over...oh well eh, tit for tat

Air France AF 447 A330 flight - Rio to Paris CDG

It's awfully sad to hear that the Air France Rio - Paris bound flight has disappeared off the radar. It's supposed to be a day of celebrations at CDG airport tomorrow with the arrival of SQ's inaugural A380 flight. Now, the disappearance of this Air France AF 447, friends and loved ones at CDG waiting anxiously at the airport will change all that. Our thoughts and prayers are with them. Caravelle.

One minute's silence observed on Singapore Airlines' A380 flight out of Paris CDG in respect of the AF tragedy.

First photo set of SQ's A380 flight at Paris CDG

SQ A380 at CDG T1. One of the unmistakable T1 satellites can be spotted on the left.
