  • Has SIA withdrawn from the Star Alliance Asia Airpass Fare?

    Hey all

So yeah as the subject states, have they withdrawn from this program?

I only found out this type of "ticket" existed last week, and it would help me a lot for my upcoming vacation.

However today when I called the SIA Reservations line (the 800 number from Canada, which of course connects me to the call centre), the first rep told me they had withdrawn from this program effective last month....ended that call, called back 5 minutes later, the second rep took down my desired itinerary (actually itineraries) and promised to take this request to the powers that be so that I could get a full fare (as opposed to the fare before the applicable fees, taxes and surcharges)...she said they would call back, but alas have not (granted it isn't been a day yet, but still)....called back now, 9:45pm NA EDT, but this time I got the same spiel as the first rep, that SIA has withdrawn from this program last month etc etc. The rep went on to say, after I mentioned there was no word on the website (seriously is there), that they have not updated the website yet.

So is what they are telling me bunk or true?

Well, looking at a travel agent fares system I use in Australia, it doesn't even show the Asia Airpass as an option. When I type in SQ and AIR PASS I get nothing. TG and AIR PASS I get the *A Thailand Airpass. NH and AIR PASS yields the *A Japan Airpass. But nothing on the Asia Airpass. But the Star Alliance website sure says it exists:

    Very strange.

thank you kindly MilesDependent for looking that up for me. Indeed it is strange eh

I did go to a travel agent yesterday as well (TravelCuts a TA geared towards University/College students which is of course located on campus), and well hopefully the person will get back to me today in regards to what he found (if anything of course).

      Thanks again though mate!

      Cheers
